By default, the files will go to the Pictures folder in your Windows user account, but it’s possible to change the items’ destination by selecting More options. You can pick and choose which photos and videos to copy, or you can just grab everything. You can also right-click on the name of your phone in File Explorer, and then choose Show more options > Import pictures and videos to move files across. You’ll typically find your photos and videos in a folder called DCIM, so you can move them to your computer however you like: drag and drop, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, or the copy (two rectangles) and paste (a clipboard and a rectangle) icons in the File Explorer toolbar at the top of the window. Once you find it, you can browse your Android smartphone just as you would any other folder on your Windows system. If that doesn’t happen, you should be able to find your phone by looking in the left-hand navigation pane of File Explorer or clicking This PC to see a list of connected drives and devices. How to transfer photos from Android to WindowsĪfter you connect your Android phone to your Windows 10 or 11 computer with the appropriate USB cable, File Explorer should automatically open a new window showing the contents of your mobile device. To do this, connect your Android device, tap the Charging this device via USB notification that automatically pops up, find Use USB for, and select File Transfer. When working with both Windows and macOS, you may have to put your phone in file transfer mode. With the latest computer and phone models, a USB-C-to-USB-C cable should do the trick. We’re going to focus on manually transferring files without WiFi, so you’ll need a USB cable that fits your Android phone at one end and your PC or Mac at the other. It’s important that you choose at least one alternative storage method for your photos and videos-that way if your phone gets lost, stolen, or badly damaged, your precious digital memories will live forever. Whatever your reason, you may want to move your pictures from your Android device to a laptop or desktop computer over a USB cable. Maybe you don’t want all of your personal media files sitting on Google’s servers, or maybe you refuse to pay the company for cloud storage. The fastest way to transfer photos from an Android phone to a computer is to use the Google Photos app-but this option isn’t for everyone. We may earn revenue from the products available on this page and participate in affiliate programs. Transferring your photos and videos from your Android device to a computer is simple, no matter what operating system you're running. He has an ability to be still on camera, to be himself on camera, which a lot of kids, when they start acting, don’t have. KM: Sunny just has this soulfulness that you could just see. It took a little bit longer for Kirsty to get into that, but for me, it was pretty instant. I just felt like we were watching our movie. As soon as I saw him, he just felt like the kid that I’d been imagining and feeling, and then we got him into the rehearsal space and I put a camera on him. But it was never a bull’s-eye, really, until one day, this little Sunny came into the room and he was kind of pretty instant for me. GD: For me, when I’m looking at all the kids, anyone who kind of touched that place in me, I thought we were getting close. We took our acting coach to India with us, Miranda Harcourt, who’s fantastic, and she devised some exercises as well as we started narrowing down the groups. We’d have maybe ten kids in at a time, and we would do some scene work, we’d play some games. And then we narrowed down to those who just felt right, and then the callbacks we did in big groups to start with. KM: There’s a little scene in the film where Saroo is trying to convince Guddu that he wants to go with him, and he picks up the bike and says, “Look how strong I am!” So they were just doing a little improvisation around that, half a page basically, and it’s just to see the kids, see how natural they were on camera, getting a sense of their spirit, really. I could start to feel him and see his spirit, and I could really feel his character. Garth Davis: The way I work is that I try and spend as much time in the real-life places as possible, and meeting the real-life people, and there was a point where I started to imagine who this little boy was. We went through all of them, and Garth and I came up with our short list of who we wanted to meet, and then we flew over to India and we did callbacks, really intensive callbacks for ten days with about 200 of the kids over three cities. They probably put approximately 2,000 kids on tape across three different cities, and they would send all of the tapes to me and to Garth. It was the old method, really, going to schools and finding kids who wanted to audition, and then they would send all of the tapes to me. But we hired Tess, who then put together a team of people who went out on foot to schools - we traveled to New Delhi, to Mumbai, and to Punna, and went to dozens and dozens of schools and put kids on tape in the schools. In Australia it’s a lot easier - you can do community casting through social media and people come to you. Garth wanted to turn over every stone that we possibly could. We interviewed a couple of local casting people and we hired Tess Joseph, who’s a fantastic casting director in Mumbai. Ultimately, that meant we were going to have to go through schools. We weren’t going to be able to search everywhere, because we knew that we needed to find a child who had papers, basically, because we knew we’d have to get him a visa to shoot in Australia. Kirsty McGregor: Firstly, we were aware of the pitfalls of casting in India. Casting Saroo was one of the first tasks that faced director Garth Davis and casting director Kirsty McGregor as they prepared to shoot fortunately, the four-month search turned up Sunny Pawar, one of the breakout stars of the year in film. To adapt Saroo Brierley’s autobiography A Long Way Home - which tells the story of how Brierley was separated from his family at the age of 5, and eventually found his way back as an adult - into a movie, you’d need a child who could convincingly portray a complex human experience, including feelings of loneliness, grief, confusion, and fear. In theory, the act of casting Lion seems like a herculean feat. Perhaps even more egregious than its inherently repulsive premise is the fact that The Human Centipede 3: The Final Sequence is cinematically constipated… nothing happens for a long, long time and when it does, it’s just crap. And let’s just say: I didn’t love The Human Centipede 3: The Final Sequence. Either way, it’s a bit sad for those of us who lean toward the higher brow – entertainment worthy of our love comes few and far between. I’m not sure if that says more about shock-merchant Six or the movie-watching public. Each installment has proven popular, so he’s not bothered to even try to tackle any other subject matter. Surely Six subscribes to this view, as he’s milked this one-note phenomenon for all it’s worth, putting his every waking hour since 2009 into The Human Centipede franchise. Like it or not, bad publicity is better than none, or so they say. It’s hard to stand out as a filmmaker these days, and to come up with a totally original idea is even more of a feat. Once things do start going all ass-to-mouth, The Human Centipede 3 dishes us the usual gross-out fest that is unfortunately too little too late. I guess his yelling did at least keep me awake. Dieter Laser (the asshole Warden from Unit 731). 'This is beyond Medieval' - Bill Boss 'I don't pay you to tell me I'm not fine, I pay you to tell me that I'm perfect'. The whole affair comes off as lazy and offensive, if for no other reason than to try to be offensive. 'Centipede 3' is for everyone, everyone who's crazy enough to be fascinated by coprophagia and visuals of mouths being stitched to dirty, filthy assholes. Director Tom Six makes a cameo as himself, and Eric Roberts and Robert LaSardo also appear (why, I don’t know… unless their salaries were off the charts or they were being blackmailed).Īside from Laser walking around shouting the entire time (as if being loud is the only way to convey emotion) while just generally being a sleazy person, there’s zero to see here. Harvey, who appeared in The Human Centipede 2). He lords over the prisoners with his sadistic iron fist, watching over them from his ivory tower office where he employs Daisy, his perpetually sexually-harassed secretary (Bree Olson), and a nebbish, overweight and overworked accountant dubbed Dwight (Laurence R. He’s a bald and brutal top-of-the-lungs yeller who’s basically the bastard hate-child of Colonel Kurtz and Gunnery Sergeant Hartman with just a touch of Dr. Bush Prison, presided over by the insane and inhuman Warden Bill Boss (Dieter Laser, who appeared in The Human Centipede). The sick scene is set in the fictional George H. Over the years, several investors came to take interest in Equinox.īy 2000, Harvey Spevak, who’d worked for Equinox since 1998, led the company to a buyout by J. The siblings attribute their great success to sticking to these core values. They also had several core values they focused on, some of which included celebrating diversity, challenging the status quo, a supportive approach to everybody’s goals, and more things to help clients, trainers, and managers alike feel respected and fulfilled. They even put a significant investment into creating a program to ensure they had only top-quality personal trainers working for them. This led to Equinox finding incredible success fast. Luckily, they didn’t need anyone else-the clubs were considered cutting-edge, and they were the first to incorporate indoor cycling, massages, dance cardio, and even reiki under one roof. There were no outside investors to help with its initial growth. The siblings had to do everything themselves as they began to grow their business. Instead, they replaced this image in people’s heads with the bright vibe of an aerobics studio, with upbeat music playing and an atmosphere that welcomed all types of people. They wanted to destroy the image that large gyms were badly lit, dingy, unpleasant places where only bodybuilders worked out. They wanted it to be a place where you could work out and hang out in comfort and style.Īlthough none of them had a background in fitness, they had a shared idea: to make an alternative to “Happy Hour” where clients could gather at their prime locations to socialize and get fit. The siblings opened a single fitness center, ensuring it was aesthetically pleasing, upscale, and welcoming. It got its start back in 1991 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.Īlthough it was founded by Lavinia, Daniel, and Vito Errico, Lavinia is often cited as the visionary behind it. Let’s look at where Equinox got its start and how it became the massive success it is today.Įquinox hasn’t always been the immense chain, with numerous subsidiaries, that you know it as today. Officially, the company appears to be run by a management committee, with no publicly-named CEO. The most recent official CEO of Equinox was Niki Leondakis, who stepped down in 2018. Some will have brushed the brand’s gyms off as overly lavish and expensive, whereas others are huge fans.Īlthough pricey, Equinox gyms are meccas of health and luxury, with amenities that far surpass your average commercial big box gym.īut who’s behind this luxury fitness brand? Visual elements will appear in various clubs and city streets across the nation, and include messages such as “January promises and doesn't deliver, we don’t speak January” and “January will not text you back next month, we don’t speak January.”Ĭampaign content will be dissemniated via a New York Times full-page ad, digital, paid social, in clubs, and Equinox’s website and social accounts. Most fitness-minded people in the US have probably heard of Equinox. The creative also marks a shift from “photographic campaigns to monochromatic messaging that challenges and questions the norms of the wellness industry,” according to Mayer. Equinox exemplifies the belief that life is forged at the extremes, and because we are for people who constantly push themselves to those extremes, we can’t in good conscience support the ‘new year, new me’ movement that happens every January.” “We believe January is a farce, laden with mantras and affirmations that are pleasant for three weeks, but never push you further,” says Will Mayer, vice president and executive creative director at Equinox. To hammer the message home, the entire chain is preventing new customers from attaining Equinox memberships on New Year‘s Day. The national campaign, developed in partnership with independent agency Collins, snubs short-term New Year’s resolutions and encourages constant dedication instead. It is worth noting that even though the Mets had only played one game between Castro appearances, 4 days had passed between the two appearances. Castro’s next appearance was in the Mets 6th game of the season, pitching in the 5th and 6th innings of the first game of a doubleheader. And then again, in the 7th inning of the Mets 4th game of the season, their home opener, this time with the Mets 1-run down to the Marlins. And there he was again in the 7th inning of game 2, just after the Mets opened up a lead against the Phillies. Still, there he was on the Mets opening night, in the 7th inning of a tight ballgame against the Phillies. With so much focus on Edwin Diaz, Jeurys Familia, Dellin Betances, Robert Gsellman, and Seth Lugo, as well as newly-acquired Trevor May and Aaron Loup, there just wasn’t much expectation that the Mets would be regularly relying on Miguel Castro. So it’s not hard to understand why many considered him an after-thought when judging the team’s bullpen during spring training. In other words, for a reliever with shut-down stuff, he doesn’t have much of a history of shutting teams down. While Castro struck out 14 batters in just 9 innings, he also yielded 11 hits, 8(!) walks, and 4 earned runs.Ĭastro entered this season with a career WHIP (Walks+Hits per Innings Pitched) of almost 1.5, and a 4.6 walks per 9 innings. Still, his 10 Mets games in 2020 were similar to the 220 previous games he pitched in stints with the Blue Jays, Rockies, and Orioles. Truthfully, the Mets were more than a Castro away from the postseason, and their sub-.500 record was not his fault. The fact that those seasons were marked by uninspiring ERAs and wildness was not enough to deter the Mets from taking a chance. Smith is probably another year or two away from pitching in the majors, while Castro already had 5+ seasons under his belt. When the Mets obtained relief pitcher Miguel Castro from the Orioles for a minor league starting pitcher named Kevin Smith at least year’s trade deadline, it was described as a win-now move. Are the Mets crazy for regularly relying on him late in games? Since his 2015 Major League debut, Miguel Castro has been considered a pitcher with a great deal of talent that has never been able to consistently put it all together, leading to a mostly mediocre career. What makes Hungarian Mushroom Soup Hungarian? Just a few tablespoons of each is all it takes to give this soup a decadent, comforting richness, so don’t skimp. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: don’t substitute low-fat dairy for the sour cream and milk. This recipe comes together without much effort-it asks only patience. Nice, dark-not burnt, but dark-caramelization means flavor, flavor, flavor. Take your time sautéeing the onions and mushrooms-let the heat and butter draw out their natural juices, and then let them get a little bit of color, too.We like cremini mushrooms for their darker color and super meaty texture, but regular white button mushrooms are OK, too. As for the best mushroom soup in the whole world, you know where we stand.
